CentOS Linux 7 [TuxCare] Security Update: libdvdnav / libdvdnav-devel (CENTOS7:CLSA-2026:1793373587)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 375670

Synopsis

The CentOS Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The CentOS Linux 7 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the TuxCare CENTOS7:CLSA-2026:1793373587 advisory.

- libdvdnav before 7.0.0 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in dvdnav_describe_title_chapters that allows attackers to read beyond the part-of-title array by supplying an oversized vts_ttn value.
Attackers can provide a crafted DVD or disc image declaring a larger VMGI title vts_ttn than the title set's entries to crash applications enumerating chapters. (CVE-2026-112057)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory CENTOS7:CLSA-2026:1793373587.
