Synopsis
The remote host is affected by a path traversal vulnerability.Description
The version of Kibana installed on the remote host is 9.3.x prior to 9.4.9, or 9.5.x prior to 9.5.6. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ESA-2026-205 advisory.- Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory (CWE-22) in the Kibana Fleet feature can lead to unauthorized resource deletion via Path Traversal (CAPEC-126). A low-privileged user with Fleet agent policies write access could cause a subsequent administrative action to act on unintended resources. This can result in the deletion of resources such as Kibana spaces and other organizational assets that the low-privileged user cannot delete directly. Exploitation requires an administrator to interact with the affected Fleet interface. (CVE-2026-115294)
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
Solution
Upgrade to Kibana version 9.4.9, or 9.5.6 or later as appropriate for your release branch.See Also
