Synopsis

The CentOS Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The CentOS Linux 7 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the TuxCare CENTOS7:CLSA-2026:1793267784 advisory.

 - GNU Emacs before 31.2 (and TRAMP through 2.8.2) allows OS command injection via a filename because tramp- user-regexp has an incomplete list of disallowed inputs. NOTE: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2026-79992. (CVE-2026-108976)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory CENTOS7:CLSA-2026:1793267784.
