high Nessus Plugin ID 371659

Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 13 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dsa-6583 advisory.

- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Debian Security Advisory DSA-6583-1 [email protected] https://www.debian.org/security/ Aron Xu October 24, 2026 https://www.debian.org/security/faq
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Package : libheif

Multiple security issues were discovered in libheif, a library for reading and writing HEIF and AVIF images. Processing specially crafted images could result in denial of service through excessive resource consumption or crashes, or disclosure of process memory. A use-after-free and double-free affecting timestamp handling during image encoding, including transcoding of crafted images, is also addressed.

For the stable distribution (trixie), this problem has been fixed in version 1.23.6-2~deb13u1.

We recommend that you upgrade your libheif packages.

For the detailed security status of libheif please refer to its security tracker page at:

Solution
