Curl 8.9.0 < 8.23.0 Interface Connection Reuse Issue

medium Nessus Plugin ID 371150

Synopsis

The remote host has a program that is affected by a connection reuse vulnerability.

Description

The version of curl installed on the remote host is 8.9.0 prior to 8.23.0. It is, therefore, affected by a connection reuse vulnerability:

- When CURLOPT_INTERFACE (or the command line tool's --interface option) is set with one of the documented prefixes (if!, host!, ifhost!), that binding is not part of the connection reuse key, so a later transfer asking for a different source can silently reuse an existing connection and go out from the earlier transfer's source address. (CVE-2026-107929)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade Curl to version 8.23.0 or later.
