Synopsis

The Linux/Unix host has one or more packages installed with a vulnerability that the vendor indicates will not be patched.

Description

The Linux/Unix host has one or more packages installed that are impacted by a vulnerability without a vendor supplied patch available.

- A flaw was found in device-mapper-persistent-data. A local attacker can cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by inducing a user or system tool to process crafted device metadata containing an excessively large block index. An arithmetic error in the synchronous block reading logic causes the application to panic and unexpectedly terminate. (CVE-2026-110036)

Note that Nessus relies on the presence of the package as reported by the vendor.

Solution

There is no known solution at this time.
