Fedora 46 : rust-backtrace / rust-object / rust-object0.37 / rust-object0.38 / etc (2026-d591b1e061)

high Nessus Plugin ID 366004

Synopsis

The remote Fedora host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Fedora 46 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FEDORA-2026-d591b1e061 advisory.

- Update the object crate to version 0.40.0.
- Add a compat package for version 0.39 of the object crate.
- Update the ruzstd crate to version 0.9.1.

This update also bumps the ruzstd dependency in packages for backtrace, object v0.37, v0.38, and v0.39 from v0.8 to v0.9 to address a potential decompression bomb vulnerability (assigned [RUSTSEC-2026-0344](https://rustsec.org/advisories/RUSTSEC-2026-0344.html)).

Rebuilds of affected packages are tracked separately in [rust/backlog#42](https://forge.fedoraproject.org/rust/backlog/issues/42).

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Fedora security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
