CentOS Linux 7 [TuxCare] Security Update: gnutls / gnutls-c++ / gnutls-dane / gnutls-devel / gnutls-utils (CENTOS7:CLSA-2026:1791496727)

high Nessus Plugin ID 364645

Synopsis

The CentOS Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The CentOS Linux 7 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the TuxCare CENTOS7:CLSA-2026:1791496727 advisory.

- A flaw was found in gnutls. This vulnerability occurs because permitted name constraints were incorrectly ignored when previous Certificate Authorities (CAs) only had excluded name constraints. A remote attacker could exploit this to bypass critical name constraint checks during certificate validation. This bypass could lead to the acceptance of invalid certificates, potentially enabling spoofing or man-in-the-middle attacks against affected systems. (CVE-2026-42011)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory CENTOS7:CLSA-2026:1791496727.
