ImageMagick < 7.1.2-31 UHDR Encoder Policy Bypass

low Nessus Plugin ID 362652

Synopsis

The remote host has an application installed that is affected by a policy bypass vulnerability.

Description

The remote host has a version of ImageMagick installed that is prior to 7.1.2-31. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability.

- ImageMagick before 7.1.2-31 contains a policy bypass vulnerability in the UHDR encoder that fails to perform policy checks during buffer allocation for image pixels. Attackers can bypass resource policies by processing specially crafted UHDR images, potentially causing denial of service through excessive memory allocation. (CVE-2026-93590)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to ImageMagick version 7.1.2-31 or later.
