high Nessus Plugin ID 361558

Synopsis

The CentOS Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The CentOS Linux 7 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the TuxCare CENTOS7:CLSA-2025:1738672047 advisory.

- A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Linux Kernel. Affected is the function l2cap_conn_del of the file net/bluetooth/l2cap_core.c of the component Bluetooth. The manipulation leads to use after free. It is recommended to apply a patch to fix this issue. The identifier of this vulnerability is VDB-211944. (CVE-2022-3640)

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ceph: prevent use-after-free in encode_cap_msg() In fs/ceph/caps.c, in encode_cap_msg(), use after free error was caught by KASAN at this line - 'ceph_buffer_get(arg->xattr_buf);'. This implies before the refcount could be increment here, it was freed. In same file, in handle_cap_grant() refcount is decremented by this line - 'ceph_buffer_put(ci->i_xattrs.blob);'. It appears that a race occurred and resource was freed by the latter line before the former line could increment it. encode_cap_msg() is called by __send_cap() and
__send_cap() is called by ceph_check_caps() after calling __prep_cap(). __prep_cap() is where arg->xattr_buf is assigned to ci->i_xattrs.blob. This is the spot where the refcount must be increased to prevent use after free error. (CVE-2024-26689)

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu: add missing size check in amdgpu_debugfs_gprwave_read() Avoid a possible buffer overflow if size is larger than 4K. (cherry picked from commit f5d873f5825b40d886d03bd2aede91d4cf002434) (CVE-2024-50282)

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hv_sock: Initializing vsk->trans to NULL to prevent a dangling pointer When hvs is released, there is a possibility that vsk->trans may not be initialized to NULL, which could lead to a dangling pointer. This issue is resolved by initializing vsk->trans to NULL. (CVE-2024-53103)

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: ipset: add missing range check in bitmap_ip_uadt When tb[IPSET_ATTR_IP_TO] is not present but tb[IPSET_ATTR_CIDR] exists, the values of ip and ip_to are slightly swapped. Therefore, the range check for ip should be done later, but this part is missing and it seems that the vulnerability occurs. So we should add missing range checks and remove unnecessary range checks. (CVE-2024-53141)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory CENTOS7:CLSA-2025:1738672047.
