high Nessus Plugin ID 361096

Synopsis

The CentOS Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The CentOS Linux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the TuxCare CENTOS-STREAM8:CLSA-2026:1773046198 advisory.

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: nsh: Use correct mac_offset to unwind gso skb in nsh_gso_segment() As the call trace shows, skb_panic was caused by wrong skb->mac_header in nsh_gso_segment(): invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN PTI CPU: 3 PID: 2737 Comm: syz Not tainted 6.3.0-next-20230505 #1 RIP: 0010:skb_panic+0xda/0xe0 call Trace: skb_push+0x91/0xa0 nsh_gso_segment+0x4f3/0x570 skb_mac_gso_segment+0x19e/0x270 __skb_gso_segment+0x1e8/0x3c0 validate_xmit_skb+0x452/0x890 validate_xmit_skb_list+0x99/0xd0 sch_direct_xmit+0x294/0x7c0

However, skb->network_header may be reset by inner-layer protocol gso function e.g. mpls_gso_segment. skb->mac_header reset by the inaccurate network_header will be larger than skb headroom. nsh_gso_segment nhoff = skb->network_header - skb->mac_header; __skb_pull(skb,nsh_len) skb_mac_gso_segment mpls_gso_segment skb_reset_network_header(skb);//skb->network_header+=nsh_len return -EINVAL; skb_gso_error_unwind skb_push(skb, nsh_len); skb->mac_header = skb->network_header - nhoff; // skb->mac_header > skb->headroom, cause skb_push panic Use correct mac_offset to restore mac_header and get rid of nhoff. (CVE-2023-54114)

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: SVM: Get source vCPUs from source VM for SEV-ES intrahost migration Fix a goof where KVM tries to grab source vCPUs from the destination VM when doing intrahost migration. Grabbing the wrong vCPU not only hoses the guest, it also crashes the host due to the VMSA pointer being left NULL. - In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: dvb-frontends: avoid stack overflow warnings with clang A previous patch worked around a KASAN issue in stv0367, now a similar problem showed up with clang: drivers/media/dvb-frontends/stv0367.c:1222:12: error: stack frame size (3624) exceeds limit (2048) in 'stv0367ter_set_frontend' [-Werror,-Wframe-larger-than] 1214 | static int stv0367ter_set_frontend(struct dvb_frontend *fe) Rework the stv0367_writereg() function to be simpler and mark both register access functions as noinline_for_stack so the temporary i2c_msg structures do not get duplicated on the stack when KASAN_STACK is enabled. (CVE-2024-27075)

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipv6: Fix infinite recursion in fib6_dump_done(). syzkaller reported infinite recursive calls of fib6_dump_done() during netlink socket destruction. [1] From the log, syzkaller sent an AF_UNSPEC RTM_GETROUTE message, and then the response was generated. The following recvmmsg() resumed the dump for IPv6, but the first call of inet6_dump_fib() failed at kzalloc() due to the fault injection. [0] 12:01:34 executing program 3: r0 = socket$nl_route(0x10, 0x3, 0x0) sendmsg$nl_route(r0, ... snip ...) recvmmsg(r0, ... snip ...) (fail_nth:
8) Here, fib6_dump_done() was set to nlk_sk(sk)->cb.done, and the next call of inet6_dump_fib() set it to nlk_sk(sk)->cb.args[3]. syzkaller stopped receiving the response halfway through, and finally netlink_sock_destruct() called nlk_sk(sk)->cb.done(). fib6_dump_done() calls fib6_dump_end() and nlk_sk(sk)->cb.done() if it is still not NULL. fib6_dump_end() rewrites nlk_sk(sk)->cb.done() by nlk_sk(sk)->cb.args[3], but it has the same function, not NULL, calling itself recursively and hitting the stack guard page. To avoid the issue, let's set the destructor after kzalloc(). [0]: FAULT_INJECTION:

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: isofs: Prevent the use of too small fid syzbot reported a slab-out-of-bounds Read in isofs_fh_to_parent. [1] The handle_bytes value passed in by the reproducing program is equal to 12. In handle_to_path(), only 12 bytes of memory are allocated for the structure file_handle->f_handle member, which causes an out-of-bounds access when accessing the member parent_block of the structure isofs_fid in isofs, because accessing parent_block requires at least 16 bytes of f_handle. Here, fh_len is used to indirectly confirm that the value of handle_bytes is greater than 3 before accessing parent_block.
