Description

The CentOS Linux 7 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the TuxCare CENTOS7:CLSA-2026:1776934758 advisory.

- socket.c in GNU Screen through 4.9.0, when installed setuid or setgid (the default on platforms such as Arch Linux and FreeBSD), allows local users to send a privileged SIGHUP signal to any PID, causing a denial of service or disruption of the target process. (CVE-2023-24626)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected screen package based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory CENTOS7:CLSA-2026:1776934758.
