CentOS Linux 8 [TuxCare] Security Update: platform-python / platform-python-debug / platform-python-devel / etc (CENTOS-STREAM8:CLSA-2026:1781082676)

low Nessus Plugin ID 359886

Synopsis

The CentOS Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The CentOS Linux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the TuxCare CENTOS- STREAM8:CLSA-2026:1781082676 advisory.

- The tarfile module would still apply normalization of AREGTYPE (\x00) blocks to DIRTYPE, even while processing a multi-block member such as GNUTYPE_LONGNAME or GNUTYPE_LONGLINK. This could result in a crafted tar archive being misinterpreted by the tarfile module compared to other implementations.
(CVE-2025-13462)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory CENTOS-STREAM8:CLSA-2026:1781082676.
