The CentOS Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The CentOS Linux 8.4 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the TuxCare CENTOS8.4:CLSA-2025:1749743304 advisory.

 - The zend_string_extend function in Zend/zend_string.h in PHP through 7.1.5 does not prevent changes to string objects that result in a negative length, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact by leveraging a script's use of .= with a long string. (CVE-2017-8923)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory CENTOS8.4:CLSA-2025:1749743304.
