Synopsis

The CentOS Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The CentOS Linux 7 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the TuxCare CENTOS7:CLSA-2026:1771241609 advisory.

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: ses: Fix slab-out-of-bounds in ses_intf_remove() A fix for: BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in ses_intf_remove+0x23f/0x270 [ses] Read of size 8 at addr ffff88a10d32e5d8 by task rmmod/12013 When edev->components is zero, accessing edev->component[0] members is wrong. (CVE-2023-53521)

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bna: ensure the copied buf is NUL terminated Currently, we allocate a nbytes-sized kernel buffer and copy nbytes from userspace to that buffer. Later, we use sscanf on this buffer but we don't ensure that the string is terminated inside the buffer, this can lead to OOB read when using sscanf. Fix this issue by using memdup_user_nul instead of memdup_user. (CVE-2024-36934)

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipv6: reject malicious packets in ipv6_gso_segment() syzbot was able to craft a packet with very long IPv6 extension headers leading to an overflow of skb->transport_header. This 16bit field has a limited range. Add skb_reset_transport_header_careful() helper and use it from ipv6_gso_segment() WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 5871 at ./include/linux/skbuff.h:3032 skb_reset_transport_header include/linux/skbuff.h:3032 [inline] WARNING:

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pptp: ensure minimal skb length in pptp_xmit() Commit aabc6596ffb3 (net: ppp: Add bound checking for skb data on ppp_sync_txmung) fixed ppp_sync_txmunge() We need a similar fix in pptp_xmit(), otherwise we might read uninit data as reported by syzbot. - In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: uvcvideo: Fix 1-byte out-of- bounds read in uvc_parse_format() The buffer length check before calling uvc_parse_format() only ensured that the buffer has at least 3 bytes (buflen > 2), buf the function accesses buffer[3], requiring at least 4 bytes. This can lead to an out-of-bounds read if the buffer has exactly 3 bytes. Fix it by checking that the buffer has at least 4 bytes in uvc_parse_format(). (CVE-2025-38680)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory CENTOS7:CLSA-2026:1771241609.
