CentOS Linux 8.5 [TuxCare] Security Update: libssh / libssh-config / libssh-devel Multiple Vulnerabilities (CENTOS8.5:CLSA-2026:1786448214)

high Nessus Plugin ID 352109

Synopsis

The CentOS Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The CentOS Linux 8.5 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the TuxCare CENTOS8.5:CLSA-2026:1786448214 advisory.

- A flaw was found in libssh. Incorrect AES-GCM finalization checks in builds using the OpenSSL backend can effectively remove integrity protection, allowing an in-path attacker to modify plaintext on the wire without detection. (CVE-2026-59847)

- A flaw was found in libssh. If data packets are processed after a channel is closed, channel data callbacks can be invoked after the associated data has already been freed, leading to crashes or possible use-after-free conditions. (CVE-2026-59850)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory CENTOS8.5:CLSA-2026:1786448214.
