Synopsis
The remote host is affected by an incorrect authorization vulnerability.Description
The version of Kibana installed on the remote host is 8.x prior to 8.19.22, or 9.4.x prior to 9.4.6. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ESA-2026-103 advisory.- Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key (CWE-639) in Kibana can lead to unauthorized disclosure, modification, and deletion of data via Accessing Functionality Not Properly Constrained by ACLs (CAPEC-1).
An authenticated user granted the Timeline feature privilege in a Kibana space could enumerate, read, modify, and delete draft Timeline objects belonging to other users in the same space. Read access is sufficient for enumeration and disclosure; the Timeline write privilege is required for modification and deletion. (CVE-2026-72662)
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
Solution
Upgrade to Kibana version 8.19.22, or 9.4.6 or later as appropriate for your release branch.See Also
