Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2023 host is missing a security update.

Description

It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2023-2026-3135 advisory.

 _module_comgen_words_and_files() fed untrusted text (module names readoff disk, LOADEDMODULES, MODULEPATH) straight into `compgen -W`, whichperforms a full unquoted-word expansion on its wordlist -- includingcommand substitution -- as a normal, documented part of its behavior.A module name, loaded-module entry, or MODULEPATH component containinge.g. `$(...)` therefore ran arbitrary shell code the moment a userpressed Tab. (CVE-2026-85013)

Solution

Run 'dnf update environment-modules --releasever 2023.12.20260928' or or 'dnf update --advisory ALAS2023-2026-3135 --releasever 2023.12.20260928' to update your system.
