Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 18.04 LTS / 24.04 LTS host has a package installed that is affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the USN-8838-1 advisory.

 It was discovered that catdoc had an integer overflow when processing shared string tables in malformed spreadsheet files. An attacker could possibly use this issue to cause catdoc to crash or execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2024-48877)

 It was discovered that catdoc had an integer overflow when processing file allocation tables in malformed document files. An attacker could possibly use this issue to cause catdoc to crash or execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2024-52035)

 It was discovered that catdoc incorrectly validated sector sizes when processing malformed document files, leading to an integer underflow. An attacker could possibly use this issue to cause catdoc to crash or execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2024-54028)
