Synopsis

The Microsoft WebP Image Extension app installed on the remote host is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability.

Description

The version of the Microsoft WebP Image Extension app installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 1.2.31.0. It is, therefore, affected by a remote code execution vulnerability:

- Integer overflow or wraparound in Microsoft WebP Image Extension allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code over a network. (CVE-2026-70351)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the Microsoft WebP Image Extension app to version 1.2.31.0 or later via the Microsoft Store.
