ImageMagick < 6.9.13-55 / 7.x < 7.1.2-26 Memory Leak

low Nessus Plugin ID 344820

Synopsis

The remote host has an application installed that is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The remote host has a version of ImageMagick installed that is prior to 6.9.13-55, or 7.x prior to 7.1.2-26. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability.

- ImageMagick before 7.1.2-26 contains a memory leak vulnerability in the JNG encoder when a blob cannot be opened. Attackers can trigger the memory leak by providing malformed JNG files that fail blob operations, causing resource exhaustion. (CVE-2026-61866)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to ImageMagick version 6.9.13-55 / 7.1.2-26 or later.
