Synopsis

An application installed on the remote Windows host is affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability.

Description

The version of HP Support Assistant installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 9.53.2.0. It is, therefore, affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability as referenced in the HPSBGN04131 advisory:

- A potential security vulnerability has been identified in the HP Support Assistant for versions prior to 9.53.2.0. The vulnerability could potentially allow a local attacker to escalate privileges due to insufficient access controls. (CVE-2026-15431)

Solution

Upgrade to HP Support Assistant version 9.53.2.0 or later.
