Synopsis

The remote host is affected by an information disclosure vulnerability.

Description

The version of Kibana installed on the remote host is 9.4.x prior to 9.4.5, or 9.5.x prior to 9.5.1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ESA-2026-168 advisory.

 - Improper Neutralization of Special Elements in Data Query Logic (CWE-943) in Kibana can lead to information disclosure via NoSQL Injection (CAPEC-676). An authenticated user with access to the affected query functionality could submit specially crafted input that alters the intended query logic, returning data the user is not authorized to read. (CVE-2026-63138)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to Kibana version 9.4.5, 9.5.1 or later.
