Next.js Framework 13.4 < 15.5.24 / 16.x < 16.3.3 RCE (Windows)

critical Nessus Plugin ID 342568

Synopsis

The Next.js Framework on the remote Windows host is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability.

Description

The Next.js Framework on the remote host is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability:

- A vulnerability in applications using both the Pages Router and App Router without Cache Components can lead to unauthenticated remote code execution when the Next.js server uses a Windows filesystem. Linux and macOS are not affected by this issue. There is no known workaround for affected Windows-hosted applications. (CVE-2026-75604)

Exploitation additionally requires that the application uses the Pages Router or the App Router without Cache Components, and that the server runs on a Windows filesystem. Nessus cannot verify the router configuration of the application, so this finding is reported as a potential vulnerability.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Next.js Framework version 15.5.24 / 16.3.3 or later.
