medium Nessus Plugin ID 340428

Synopsis

The Unity Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The Unity Linux 20 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the UTSA-2026-093153 advisory.

An issue was discovered in TrouSerS through 0.3.14. If the tcsd daemon is started with root privileges, the creation of the system.data file is prone to symlink attacks. The tss user can be used to create or corrupt existing files, which could possibly lead to a DoS attack.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Unity Linux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected trousers package.
