Unity Linux 20.1050a Security Update: kernel (UTSA-2026-098991)

high Nessus Plugin ID 340204

Synopsis

The Unity Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The Unity Linux 20 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the UTSA-2026-098991 advisory.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

platform/x86: intel: punit_ipc: fix memory corruption

This passes the address of the pointer &punit_ipcdev when the intent was to pass the pointer itself punit_ipcdev (without the ampersand).
This means that the:

complete(&ipcdev->cmd_complete);

in intel_punit_ioc() will write to a wrong memory address corrupting it.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Unity Linux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected kernel package.
