Wazuh Server 4.5.0 < 4.14.6 Stack Buffer Overflow (CVE-2026-45798)

high Nessus Plugin ID 339369

Synopsis

The remote host contains a threat prevention, detection, and response platform that is affected by a stack buffer overflow vulnerability.

Description

The version of Wazuh Server on the remote host is at least 4.5.0 and prior to 4.14.6. It is, therefore, affected by a stack buffer overflow vulnerability:

- compare_wazuh_versions() copies the attacker-controlled enrollment V: field into a 10-byte stack buffer without explicit null termination. A remote unauthenticated attacker can cause a denial of service via wazuh-authd on TCP port 1515 when anonymous TLS enrollment is enabled. (CVE-2026-45798)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Wazuh Server version 4.14.6 or later.
