Wazuh Server 4.4.0 < 4.14.6 Log Injection (CVE-2026-44256)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 339363

Synopsis

The remote host contains a threat prevention, detection, and response platform that is affected by a log injection vulnerability.

Description

The version of Wazuh Server on the remote host is at least 4.4.0 and prior to 4.14.6. It is, therefore, affected by a log injection vulnerability:

- The Basic authentication username is decoded before credential validation and passed to the access logger without neutralizing control characters. An unauthenticated attacker can include carriage returns or line feeds in the username to forge log entries or obscure activity in the plain-text audit log. (CVE-2026-44256)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Wazuh Server version 4.14.6 or later.
