Synopsis

The VMware vCenter Server installed on the remote host is affected by a directory traversal vulnerability.

Description

The version of VMware vCenter Server installed on the remote host is 8.0 prior to 8.0 Update 3k, or 9.0.x prior to 9.0.2.0100, or 9.1.x prior to 9.1.0.0300. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the VMSA-2026-0006.1 advisory:

- VMware vCenter contains a directory traversal vulnerability in the Syslog server. A malicious actor with network access to vCenter may exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2026-59310)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to VMware vCenter Server 8.0 Update 3k, 8.0 Update 2f, 9.0.2.0100, or 9.1.0.0300 or later.
