Unity Linux 20.1050a Security Update: kernel (UTSA-2026-100579)

high Nessus Plugin ID 336508

Synopsis

The Unity Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The Unity Linux 20 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the UTSA-2026-100579 advisory.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

iio: buffer: hw-consumer: fix use-after-free in error path

In the err_put_buffers cleanup path of iio_hw_consumer_alloc(), the code was using list_for_each_entry() to iterate through buffers while calling iio_buffer_put() which can free the current buffer if refcount drops to 0.
The list_for_each_entry() loop macro then evaluates buf->head.next to continue iteration, accessing the freed buffer.

Fix this by using list_for_each_entry_safe().

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Unity Linux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected kernel package.
