Synopsis

The Microsoft PowerShell install on the remote macOS host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Microsoft PowerShell installed on the remote macOS host is 7.4.x prior to 7.4.19, 7.5.x prior to 7.5.10, or 7.6.x prior to 7.6.5. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities:

- Relative path traversal in Microsoft PowerShell Core allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code over a network. (CVE-2026-70337)

- Server-side request forgery (SSRF) in Microsoft PowerShell Core allows an unauthorized attacker to disclose information over a network. (CVE-2026-58612)

- Improper control of generation of code ('code injection') in Microsoft PowerShell allows an unauthorized attacker to bypass a security feature locally. (CVE-2026-70338)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Microsoft PowerShell version 7.4.19, 7.5.10, 7.6.5, or later.
