SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP XSS (3721424)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 335403

Synopsis

The remote SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP server is affected by a cross-site scripting vulnerability.

Description

The version of SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP detected on the remote host is affected by a cross-site scripting vulnerability as referenced in SAP Security Note 3721424:

- Due to a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP, an authenticated attacker could generate a malicious link and make it publicly accessible. If an authenticated victim accesses this link, the injected input is processed and reflected within the DOM on the client side during page rendering, resulting in the execution of malicious content in the victim's browser context. Successful exploitation could result in a high impact to the confidentiality and a low impact to the integrity of the system, while availability remains unaffected. (CVE-2026-66779)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Apply the appropriate patch according to the vendor advisory.
