Synopsis

The remote Apache Tomcat server is affected by an insertion of sensitive information vulnerability

Description

The version of Tomcat installed on the remote host is 9.0.13 prior to 9.0.117. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the fixed_in_apache_tomcat_9.0.117_security-9 advisory.

 - Insertion of Sensitive Information into Log File vulnerability in the cloud membership for clustering component of Apache Tomcat exposed the Kubernetes bearer token. This issue affects Apache Tomcat: from 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.20, from 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.53, from 9.0.13 through 9.0.116. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 11.0.21, 10.1.54 or 9.0.117, which fix the issue. (CVE-2026-34487)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Apache Tomcat version 9.0.117 or later.
