ImageMagick 7.x < 7.1.2-19 Heap Buffer Overflow

high Nessus Plugin ID 327614

Synopsis

The remote host has an application installed that is affected by a heap buffer overflow vulnerability.

Description

The remote host has a version of ImageMagick installed that is 7.x prior to 7.1.2-19. It is, therefore, affected by a heap buffer overflow vulnerability:

- ImageMagick before 7.1.2-19 contains a heap buffer overflow vulnerability in the FTXT encoder due to missing boundary checks when parsing ftxt:format. Remote attackers can trigger an out of bounds read by crafting malicious FTXT image files to cause denial of service or information disclosure. (CVE-2026-56374)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to ImageMagick version 7.1.2-19 or later.
