The remote host is affected by a log injection vulnerability.

Description

The version of Kibana installed on the remote host is 7.x prior to 7.17.15 or 8.x prior to 8.11.1. It is, therefore, affected by a log injection vulnerability:

- Improper Output Neutralization for Logs (CWE-117) in Kibana can lead to log injection. An attacker can supply specially crafted input that is written to log files without proper neutralization. When the log files are subsequently viewed in a terminal that interprets control sequences, the injected content may alter the displayed log data. (CVE-2026-49091)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to Kibana version 7.17.15, 8.11.1, or later.
