Curl 8.15.0 < 8.21.0 SASL Double-Free

critical Nessus Plugin ID 323002

Synopsis

The remote host has a program that is affected by a double-free vulnerability.

Description

The version of curl installed on the remote host is 8.15.0 prior to 8.21.0. It is, therefore, affected by a double-free vulnerability:

- The curl logic that works with SASL authentication could end up cleaning up the GSASL context twice without clearing the pointer in between, making it free() the same pointer twice. (CVE-2026-8925)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade Curl to version 8.21.0 or later.
