Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of perl-Storable installed on the remote host is prior to 2.45-3. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2026-3388 advisory.

Storable versions before 3.05 for Perl has a stack overflow.

The retrieve_hook function stored the length of the class name into a signed integer but in read operations treated the length as unsigned. This allowed an attacker to craft data that could trigger the overflow. (CVE-2017-20230)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the tested product security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update perl-Storable' or or 'yum update --advisory ALAS2-2026-3388' to update your system.
