Synopsis

The remote host is affected by an out-of-bounds write vulnerability.

Description

The version of FFmpeg installed on the remote host is prior to 8.1.2. It is, therefore, affected by an out-of-bounds write vulnerability:

 - An out-of-bounds write vulnerability in FFmpeg's libavcodec library, specifically in the MagicYUV decoder, allows denial-of-service and, in some cases, can be exploited for remote code execution. (CVE-2026-8461)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to FFmpeg version 8.1.2 or later.
