MongoDB Compass < 1.49.6 Prototype Pollution

medium Nessus Plugin ID 321524

Synopsis

The remote host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of MongoDB Compass installed on the remote host is prior to 1.49.6. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability:

- Prototype pollution in csv parsing logic during import can lead to untrusted file paths (but not arguments) entering shell.openExternal after specific user behavior leading to '1-click' command execution.
(CVE-2026-9101)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to MongoDB Compass version 1.49.6 or later.
