Synopsis

SolarWinds Serv-U is affected by a vulnerability

Description

The version of SolarWinds Serv-U installed on the remote host is prior to 15.5.4 HF1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the solarwinds_serv-u_15_5_4_hf1 advisory.

 - SolarWinds Serv-U is susceptible to specially crafted POST requests that crash the Serv-U service without authentication using Content-Encoding: deflate. Mitigation steps are provided to secure customer environments in the SolarWinds Trust Center if you are unable to deploy the update (CVE-2026-28318)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to SolarWinds Serv-U version 15.5.4 HF1 or later.
