Synopsis

The remote host has an application installed that is affected by a denial of service vulnerability.

Description

The version of Docker Desktop installed on the remote host is prior to 4.76.0. It is, therefore, affected by a denial of service vulnerability:

 - A VM panic caused by unbounded recursion in the grpcfuse kernel module when a container created deeply nested directories on a bind-mounted host folder and triggered a dentry invalidation event. (CVE-2026-8936)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Docker Desktop version 4.76.0 or later.
