Synopsis

A text editor on the remote Windows host is affected by an installer vulnerability.

Description

The version of Notepad++ installed on the remote host is 8.9.4 or 8.9.5. It is, therefore, affected by an installer vulnerability:

- A vulnerability exists in the Notepad++ installer affecting versions 8.9.4 and 8.9.5 that could allow an attacker to compromise the installation process. (CVE-2026-46710)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Notepad++ version 8.9.6 or later.
