IBM WebSphere Application Server 8.5.x < 8.5.5.30 / 9.x < 9.0.5.29 RCE (7274733)

critical Nessus Plugin ID 318180

Synopsis

The remote web application server is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of IBM WebSphere Application Server running on the remote host is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability as referenced in the 7274733 advisory.

- IBM WebSphere Application Server 9.0, and 8.5 is vulnerable to remote code execution caused by the bypass of security controls. (CVE-2026-9311)

- IBM WebSphere Application Server 9.0, and 8.5 is affected by an improper validation of user-supplied data during deserialization using the SAML Web Single Sign-On component. This could result in remote code execution via a crafted HTTP request when combined with a suitable gadget chain. (CVE-2026-9330)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to IBM WebSphere Application Server version 8.5.5.30, 9.0.5.29 or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PH71453.
