Synopsis

Description

The Antimalware Platform version of Microsoft Windows Defender installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 4.18.26040.7. It is, therefore, affected by a denial of service vulnerability:

 - Microsoft Defender Denial of Service Vulnerability. (CVE-2026-45498)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update Microsoft Defender to platform version 4.18.26040.7 or later.
