Unity Linux 20.1060e / 20.1070e Security Update: apache-commons-io (UTSA-2026-016648)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 316278

Synopsis

The Unity Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The Unity Linux 20 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the UTSA-2026-016648 advisory.

In Apache Commons IO before 2.7, When invoking the method FileNameUtils.normalize with an improper input string, like //../foo, or \\..\foo, the result would be the same value, thus possibly providing access to files in the parent directory, but not further above (thus limited path traversal), if the calling code would use the result to construct a path value.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Unity Linux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected apache-commons-io package.
