Unity Linux 20.1060e / 20.1070e Security Update: rubygem-kramdown (UTSA-2026-016646)

critical Nessus Plugin ID 316184

Synopsis

The Unity Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The Unity Linux 20 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the UTSA-2026-016646 advisory.

The kramdown gem before 2.3.0 for Ruby processes the template option inside Kramdown documents by default, which allows unintended read access (such as template=/etc/passwd) or unintended embedded Ruby code execution (such as a string that begins with template=string://<%= `). NOTE: kramdown is used in Jekyll, GitLab Pages, GitHub Pages, and Thredded Forum.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Unity Linux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected rubygem-kramdown package.
