Synopsis

A monitoring application installed on the remote host is affected by a cross-site scripting vulnerability.

Description

The version of Zabbix Server installed on the remote host is prior to 7.0.24, 7.4.8. It is, therefore, affected by a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. An authenticated (non-super) administrator can create a maintenance period with a JavaScript payload that is executed by any user that opens tooltip for that maintenance period in the Host navigator widget. This can allow the attacker to perform unauthorized actions depending on which user opens the tooltip.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Zabbix version 7.0.24, 7.4.8 or later.
