Next.js Framework 15.2.x < 15.5.16 / 16.x < 16.2.5 Authorization Bypass

high Nessus Plugin ID 314908

Synopsis

The Next.js Framework on the remote host is affected by an authorization bypass vulnerability.

Description

The Next.js Framework on the remote host is affected by an authorization bypass vulnerability:

- App Router applications that rely on middleware or proxy-based checks for authorization can allow unauthorized access through transport-specific route variants used for segment prefetching. In affected configurations, specially crafted .rsc and segment-prefetch URLs can resolve to the same page without being matched by the intended middleware rule, which can allow protected content to be reached without the expected authorization check. (CVE-2026-44575)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Next.js Framework version 15.5.16 or 16.2.5 or later.
