Next.js Framework 13.4.x < 15.5.16 / 16.x < 16.2.5 Stored XSS

medium Nessus Plugin ID 314907

Synopsis

The Next.js Framework on the remote host is affected by a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability.

Description

The Next.js Framework on the remote host is affected by a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability:

- App Router applications that rely on CSP nonces can be vulnerable to stored cross-site scripting when deployed behind shared caches. In affected versions, malformed nonce values derived from request headers could be reflected into rendered HTML in an unsafe way, allowing an attacker to poison cached responses and cause script execution for later visitors. (CVE-2026-44581)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Next.js Framework version 15.5.16 or 16.2.5 or later.
