Synopsis

An application installed on the remote macOS / Mac OS X host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Wireshark installed on the remote macOS / Mac OS X host is prior to 3.0.10. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the wireshark-3.0.10 advisory.

- In Wireshark 3.2.0 to 3.2.2, 3.0.0 to 3.0.9, and 2.6.0 to 2.6.15, the BACapp dissector could crash. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-bacapp.c by limiting the amount of recursion. (CVE-2020-11647)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Wireshark version 3.0.10 or later.
